2026 Subbies Season off to a Roaring Start!

Setting the foundations for a huge 2026 Subbies Rugby Season.

The boots are back on and we're officially back on the paddock. It’s been a massive fortnight of rugby as we shake off the pre-season rust and start finding our rhythm for the 2026 campaign.

We hit the ground running with the 1XV securing a clinical win over Macquarie Uni, a performance that set a high bar for the season. On the same afternoon, the 2XV put in a strong shift against Woollahra Colleagues, but couldn't quite come away with it.

The momentum continued into our most recent fixtures, where the 1XV went down in a hard-fought battle against St Ives, and the 2XV fell short against a disciplined Hills Rugby outfit. A great weekend of rugby regardless of the scoreboard.

The results are only part of the story; the real work is happening on Tuesday and Thursday nights. The competition for spots is as fierce as it’s ever been, and having that kind of pressure at training is exactly what we want to sharpen our structures as the season develops.

We are in the early stages of a very big year. Every hit-out and every training session is a building block as we develop our combinations and sharpen our game. The focus remains locked in: we are building something special, and our eyes are firmly on the prize as we march toward Bingham 2026.
